Leg Bands &Show Cages

Leg Bands are placed on recently hatched chicks. The bands carry information about the club and/or the breeder and indicate the year in which the bird was born. Bands are color coded and this provides a quick method of identifying the age of birfs being exhibited. Traditionally American breeders have used a color code unique to the United States. In recent years an increasing numbers of clubs and breeders have chosen to use the color codes used in Europoe and the rest of the world. Members of clubs may purchase traceable closed aluminum leg bands from their club.

Show Cages

Show cages are used during the exhibition and judging of birds. Cages differ depeneding on the breed of bird being shown. Cages are appropriate to the size of the bird and always have food and water available during the exhibition period.
